TEXT:
Hebrews 12:1-11
TOPIC:
BE OPEN TO CORRECTION
We have reached a stage
in Christianity where church discipline is almost ineffective. To stand out in
our relationship with Christ, we must make efforts to throw away every excess
luggage that is slowing us down.
We must fix our eyes on
Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. In struggling towards pleasing God,
we should be intentional in self-appraisal. This act of discipline helps one to
take the Lord’s rebuke seriously without looking for reasons to justify the
evil acts.
We are called into an
enduring relationship that is not simple. When moments are not pleasant, we
should remember that we are being treated as sons. It is only an illegitimate
child that is at liberty to do as he pleases.
QUESTION:
When last did you realize that you deserved to be rebuked as a legitimate child
of God?
PRAYER:
Father, remind me of the great cloud of witnesses around me so that I can
remain focused on what matters to You, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
