TEXT: MATTHEW 25:1–5
TOPIC: BE READY
MATTHEW 25:1–5 NIV
1: “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like
ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2: Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
3: The foolish ones took their lamps but did not
take any oil with them.
4: The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along
with their lamps.
5: The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and
they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
BE READY
The parable of the ten virgins imparts a powerful
lesson about readiness and spiritual preparedness.
All ten virgins were invited to meet the bridegroom,
but only five were wise enough to bring extra oil.
The others, though outwardly prepared, lacked what
was essential to endure the wait. Jesus uses this story to emphasize the
importance of living in constant expectation of His return.
Spiritual readiness isn’t something we can borrow or
obtain at the last moment; it is built through a daily, intentional
relationship with Christ.
The oil represents the inner life of the Spirit,
nurtured through prayer, obedience, and faith.
Are we living wisely, storing up what truly matters?
May we not merely appear ready but genuinely be equipped to meet our Lord.
QUESTION: How is your inner life?
PRAYER: Lord, help me live each day in anticipation
of Your return. Strengthen my faith and fill me with Your Spirit so that I may
be found ready and faithful. Amen.
