Corinthians 9:24-27
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Verse 24. Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one
receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable
crown.
Verse 26. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as
one who beats the sir.
Verse 27. But I discipline my
body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I
myself should become disqualified.
(New King James Version Holy Bible)
This epistle was written
by Paul of Tarsus who tag it as “Imperishable” Crown. It is therefore given to
those individuals who demonstrate “Self-denial” and perseverance.
This Incorruptible or
Imperishable Crown is awarded for tenacity. It is mainly for those who are
persistent and disciplined; including those who never give up for the gospel.
Being persistent is not
an easy thing to do as a believer. Sometimes, you begin to pray for something
and stop after a while. You begin a discipline of having time with God daily in
His Word, and just after a while you get busy with other things that takes your
attention and you stop.
You are trusting God to
help you overcome a besetting habit and just a little while you find yourself
going back to it. According to the passage, those who live like that cannot get
that Incorruptible or Imperishable Crown that God has promised those who
disciplined themselves.
5. The Crown of Righteousness – 2 Timothy 4:8
2 Timothy 4:8
Verse 8. And now the prize awaits me-the crown of righteousness, which the
Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize
is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.
