Ezra 7:1-10
TOPIC:
YOUR STATUS DOES NOT MATTER IN GOD’S BUSINESS
It is interesting to
note that this passage traces Ezra’s genealogy of 16 ancestors back to Aaron,
Moses’ brother.
Ezra is known as a
teacher well versed in the Law of Moses. Perhaps this status added to his being
able to get everything he asked from the king. Moreover, the hand of the Lord was
upon him (vs. 6, 9).
Ezra occupied himself
with three major preoccupations: devotion to studying God’s word; devotion to
obeying God’s law; and teaching God’s word.
The achievements of any
of your ancestors do not matter. What matters most is the relevance of God’s
word to you now.
QUESTION:
What lesson did you learn from today’s teaching about Ezra?
PRAYER:
Father, teach me to focus on pleasing You without having to make references to
the close relatives I knew, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
