TEXT:
Job 8:1-22
TOPIC:
THE WRONG REASON FOR JOB’S SUFFERING
In this text, we see
the response of Job’s second friend, called Bildad. He also claimed that Job
was suffering because he had sinned.
Unlike the first friend
who accused Job wrongly without proffering any solution, this one presented an
antidote to Job’s suffering (vs. 5-7).
He wanted Job to find
out what had happened during his past generations so that he could learn from
their experiences.
All of the suggestions
provided by yet another friend that he should examine his ways was good but the
accusation that Job had forgotten God was wrong.
However, this friend
offered a ray of hope. He believed that even though Job was suffering, if he
was blameless, God would not reject him.
He would fill his mouth
with laughter and lips with shouts of joy and his enemies would be shamed.
One major thing about
his speech was that there was still hope for Job, even in suffering. Such is
the portion of any believer this week, this year, who is passing through unjust
suffering.
QUESTION:
Are you facing an accusation which requires God to speak on your behalf?
PRAYER: Lord, help me to learn from both my successes and failures. Provide a ray of hope for me whenever I go through unjust suffering, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
