TEXT:
Acts 28:16-31
TOPIC:
FROM PALESTINE TO ITALY: PAUL’S SUFFERING AND DELIVERANCE
Apostle
Paul had reached Rome. Even though Paul was a prisoner and captive, his mind
and the gospel of Jesus Christ were not captives.
Paul
told the Jonah community of Rome that he always shared the gospel to the Jews
first. He reiterated that he was still part of the Jews and had done nothing
against his people or the customs of their fathers.
The
Jewish leader professed complete ignorance of Paul and his case. However, the
Jews were interested in hearing what Paul had to say for himself.
He
preached the gospel of Jesus Christ, testifying of the kingdom of God and
persuaded the Jewish leader concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the
prophets.
He
summarized the teaching in this text by telling the Jewish leader in Rome that
he would take the message of salvation to the gentiles.
He
informed the Roman Jewish community that Christ would accept those who
responded positively to the gospel of faith, but those rejected it would suffer
the consequences.
When
Apostle Paul said these things, the Jew responded and started arguing with each
other. The lesson here is that even in the midst of suffering and persecution,
the word of God shall continue to spread without hindrances and keep on changing
lives for the glory of God.
QUESTION: Like
Paul, what hardships are you going through in your Christian journey?
PRAYER: O
Lord, help me not to turn my back from You, irrespective of the trials,
persecution and suffering I may be going through. Even in my suffering and persecution,
help me to continue preaching Christ to all who need to hear the gospel, in
Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
