TEXT:
2 Corinthians 8:1-15
TOPIC:
THE GRACE OF GIVING
Today’s
passage draws our attention to one of the critical aspects of our Christian
faith – giving.
The
churches in Macedonia were given the grace of giving even in the midst of
trials. How easy is it for an extremely poor person to give instead of the
other way round?
The
Macedonian churches were so generous that they gave even beyond their
abilities.
The
secret behind their generosity was that they first gave themselves to the Lord
and the apostles through God’s will.
Such
commitment is only possible when one is rooted in faith and is committed to
living out his faith for God and His ministers.
Their
actions were inspired by the way Christ chose to be poor for the Church to be
rich. The Macedonian churches did not only become first in giving but in the
desire to do so.
To
Paul, that attitude should be part of the true nature of the church.
QUESTION:
Are you like the Macedonian churches with regard to giving?
PRAYER: Father,
teach me to give because the hand that gives is always above the one that
receives, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
