TEXT:
Genesis 18:16-33
TOPIC:
THE POWER OF INTERCESSORY PRAYER
In today’s passage,
Abraham intercedes for Sodom and Gomorrah when the Lord reveals to him that He
is about to destroy the cities because of their great wickedness.
Abraham pleads with the
Lord to spare the cities if there are fifty righteous people in them and
continues to intercede, reducing the number to ten.
The Lord agrees to
spare the cities if ten righteous people are found there.
Although the cities
were eventually destroyed because not even ten righteous people were found,
this passage demonstrates the power of intercessory prayer and how God is
willing to listen to and answer the prayers of the righteous.
QUESTION:
Do you engage in intercessory prayer for others?
PRAYER:
Oh Lord, give the grace to engage in intercessory prayer for others and to
believe in the power of such prayers, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
