Daily Should I Live With The Lord Daily Manna

THURSDAY, 6 JULY 2023

TEXT: John 12:36B-43

36B: When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

37: Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him.

38: This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: “Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

39: For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere:

40: “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them.”

41: Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him.

42: Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;

43: for they loved human praise more than praise from God.

TOPIC: LISTEN AND BELIEVE (II)

The people who have teachable hearts listen attentively to Gospel messages and act accordingly. But unteachable hearts do not apply what they are taught.

Christ compared these two people to two types of builders.

The one who listens but fails to do it is likened to he who builds on sand without a good foundation.

The one who listens and puts it into practice is likened to he who builds on a solid foundation.

Therefore, Jesus stated: "There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words, that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day" (John 12:48).

This is a stern warning to the listeners and readers of God's word that we should put what we have learned into practice or be ready to face Gods judgment for disobeying same.

QUESTION: Do I believe Jesus Christ and His words as the Bible teaches?

PRAYER: My Lord Almighty, grant me an obedient heart to believe Your word in Jesus name. Amen.
