TEXT:
Psalm 133
1.
A Song of Ascents. Of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For
brothers to dwell together in unity!
2.
It is like the precious oil [of consecration] poured on the head, Coming down
on the beard, Even the beard of Aaron, Coming down upon the edge of his [priestly]
robes [consecrating the whole body].
3.
It is like the dew of [Mount] Hermon Coming down on the hills of Zion; For
there the LORD has commanded the blessing: life forevermore.
(Amplified Version Holy Bible)
TOPIC:
BUILDING LASTING RELATIONSHIPS
The
analogies used by the Psalmist here to draw the picture of the beauty of
relationships are breathtaking.
He
likens the unity of brothers to precious oil used for the anointing of Aaron.
For its importance, Aaron, Israel’s first high priest is the personality used
as an analogy.
Precious
oil poured on the head of the first high priest of Israel symbolizes how
important God sees these relationships between brothers. It is likened to dew
falling upon Mount Zion, considered to be God’s dwelling (Isaiah 8:18).
Symbolically,
God dwells in the midst of brothers who dwell together in harmony and there
bestows His blessings! He has demonstrated that for us in the unity of the
Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – three personalities, yet one God.
As
we face the challenge of disunity in our world today occasioned by differences
in personality, politics or other leanings, it is important to know that such
do not have to result in disunity. We find our common ground in the Lord Jesus
Christ. Let’s rally round that point and celebrate the Christ that we shared
together!
QUESTION:
Are you a point of unity or disunity?
PRAYER:
Make me a source of uniting people, not disuniting them. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
