TEXT:
Zephaniah 1:14-18
14:
The great day of the Lord is near— near and coming quickly. The cry on the day
of the Lord is bitter; the Mighty Warrior shouts his battle cry.
15:
That day will be a day of wrath— a day of distress and anguish, a day of
trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness—
16:
a day of trumpet and battle cry against the fortified cities and against the
corner towers.
17:
“I will bring such distress on all people that they will grope about like those
who are blind, because they have sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be
poured out like dust and their entrails like dung.
18:
Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of the
Lord’s wrath.” In the fire of his jealousy the whole earth will be consumed,
for he will make a sudden end of all who live on the earth.

Bible)
TOPIC:
THE DAY OF ANGUISH
Today's
passage paints the picture of how terrible God's judgement will be over the
sins of men and cautions those who fear the Lord to be steadfast.
That
God is sending his prophet to sound the trumpet of warning to sinners is a
demonstration of His grace and love for them. But this grace must not be taken
for granted because the day of judgement shall be full of distress where people
will walk like blind men.
If
we reflect on current conflicts and wars around the world, we will find that
many people have fled their homes and countries and now live in Internally
Displaced People's camps. These are not comfortable places but they have to
live there to safeguard their lives.
The
day of the Lord is not a day in which any victim can escape unless grace
speaks. It is a terrible day in which no transgressor can be saved.
QUESTION:
Are you waiting for the day of the Lord to come before you run away from your
sins?
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, please let the fear of the day of Your coming keep me away from
sin, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
