TEXT:
John 17:14-18
14.
I have given then Your word. The world hated them because they are not of the
world, as I am not of the world.
15.
I am not praying that You take them out of the world but that You protect them
from the evil one.
16.
They are not of the world, as I am not of the world.
17.
Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.
18.
As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.

TOPIC:
IN THE WORLD BUT NOT OF THE WORLD
Believers
live in the world; a system controlled largely by Satan, who is the god of this
world (2 Corinthians 4:4 King James Version).
In
His High Priestly prayer, Jesus speaks to the Father about sanctifying
believers and making them one while in the world. He does not ask for believers
to be taken out of the world to safety.
One
wonders why, if Jesus wants believers to be godly, He would not take them out
of this world of sin, where many get tempted and fall. Jesus is not looking for
an escape route for believers as much as that appears to make human sense. He wants
believers here in the world, where they are on a mission.
The
mandate to “Occupy till I come” is against the background that believers are
somewhere waiting for the return of their master. An escape route does not lead
to freedom if the Lord is not in it.
Many
have fallen victim to scammers and dupes in their attempt to get out of
financial difficulties fast. Know that each time you are in a difficult
situation, Jesus is praying for you. He may not be asking the Father to take
you out of the situation but for you to be trained under it.
QUESTION:
What difficulties are you passing through?
PRAYER:
Train me through every situation You allow me to pass through. Help me to learn
well. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
