TEXT: 2 Timothy 3:1-9

1. You must understand this, that in the last days distressing times will come.

2. For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3. inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, brutes, haters of good,

4. treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

5. holding to the outward form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid them!

6. For among them are those who make their way into households and captivate silly women, overwhelmed by their sins and swayed by all kinds of desires,

7. who are always being instructed and can never arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

8. As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these people, of corrupt mind and counterfeit faith, also oppose the truth.

9. But they will not make progress, because, as in the case of those two men, their folly will become plain to everyone.

TOPIC: STAND FIRM AGAINST RELIGIOUS MANIPULATORS

Paul, with greater emphasis, said, “Mark this! There would be terrible times in the last days.”

General ungodliness was going to increase and we must pay greater attention to Paul’s warning and shun any form of ungodliness because we are now living in those last days Paul prophesied about!

He went on to say that these men, apart from manipulating and exploiting women, would oppose the truth. These false religious leaders take advantage of the people’s problems by promising them quick and easy solutions.

They “Worm their way in” and soon control people’s lives. Sooner than later, these leaders grab their followers’ loyalty, money and service. But their ‘converts’ become worse off than they were before. They still face the same problems but they do not know because they had been duped into thinking that all is well with them.

QUESTION: Have you been duped by religious manipulators who have left you in a worse situation?

PRAYER: I pray, Oh God, that You deliver and protect me from evil religious manipulators, in Jesus name, Amen.
