TEXT:
1 TIMOTHY 2:1 - 15
TOPIC:
RESPECT THOSE IN AUTHORITY, WITHIN AND OUTSIDE THE CHURCH
God
wants us to pray for everyone, especially those in authority (see also Romans
12:1-3). God can work through any situation. But His preferred way of working is
in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. And respect for those in authority helps in
ensuring peace.
On
the other hand, Satan often uses the method of causing chaos and conflicts that
result in pain, sorrow and death so that people would die in their sins without
a chance to hear the gospel truth. The gospel truth, in a nut shell, is that
God is one. There is only one mediator between God and man by whom we can be
saved - Christ Jesus (Acts 4:12).
No
one, no matter how holy or powerful he may be, is qualified to be a mediator
between men and God, except Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore, we should pray in
no other name whether 'G.O' or 'Bishop' - except in the name of Jesus and Him
alone. Clearly, in this passage too, for godly order and peace, women are expected
and encouraged to function in the Church under the authority of men.
The
argument used here is that of the order of creation before The Fall - Adam was
created before Eve.
QUESTION:
Do you respect godly authorities within and outside the Church?
PRAYER: Oh
God, help me to respect and pray for those in authority within and outside the
Church, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
