TEXT: JAMES 1:26-27
TOPIC: WITHOUT ACTION, GOOD DOCTRINE IS USELESS
JAMES 1:26-27 NIV
26: Those who consider themselves religious and yet
do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their
religion is worthless.
27: Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and
faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to
keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
WITHOUT ACTION, GOOD DOCTRINE IS USELESS
James wrote to scattered Jewish people, emphasising
that true faith is lived out through actions. Claiming religiousity without
caring for others is hollow.
True religion involves supporting the vulnerable, as
seen in God’s commandments to care for orphans and widows (Exodus 22:22-24,
Deuteronomy 14:28-29).
The 21st-century Church is called to help the needy
and remain distinct from societal corruption.
Today is “World Braille Day.” Take action to support
individuals who are visually impaired.
QUESTION: Are you aware that the visually impaired
are a special group God calls us to assist?
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me remember those with
special needs in my prayers and budget.
