Seasons of Grace: Devotions for Every Day of Life

WEDNESDAY, 1 OCTOBER 2025

TEXT: Proverbs 14:34

34: “Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.”

(New King James Version Holy Bible)

TOPIC: RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION

Nigerians celebrate today as the day they gained independence to govern themselves.

Today’s passage is a recipe beneficial for a nation if every citizen plays their role.

Righteousness is needed to make a nation great. But when we continue to perpetrated atrocities, we shall only receive reproach, not blessings.

Righteousness means to “do things the right way.” If every citizen begins to do things the way it should be done, everything will work well for every nation.

If our leaders begin to practice righteousness, the blessings that God has set for a nation will be released and enjoyed. As Nigeria celebrate another Independence Day, the people must shun all evil acts and work towards righteousness so that their nation can become great again.

QUESTION: As a citizen, have your steps been righteous?

PRAYER: Grant me the grace to understand that I have a role to play in making my nation great again and grant me the enablement to do the right things, even if all others are doing wrong, in Jesus’s name. Amen.
