TRUE RELIGION
God who created every
human wants them to live in peace, upholding mercy, love and justice. He wants
us to have a society where things work and all people relate with one other in
a manner that is pleasing to God.
Mankind, however, choose
to live differently as the privileged oppress the poor and do not care for
their welfare.
God drew the people’s
attention to the fact that ‘spirituality’ that is not backed by deeds is
unacceptable to the Lord. The people were pious in the observance of castings
and other legal issues.
But they oppressed
widows, the poor and aliens living among them. God instructed the prophet to
tell them to practice justice and mercy, not only fasting.
We should know that God
still speaks in this regard today and wants our religious practices to be backed
by justice, mercy, love and the rest.
QUESTION: Do
you back your religious practices with deeds?
PRAYER: Dear Father, we are sorry for our hypocritical
lifestyles and pray that You help practice pure religion as instructed in Your
word in Jesus’ name. Amen.
