Living Word, Living Faith: Daily Scripture Reflections

FRIDAY, 19 SEPTEMBER 2025

TEXT: ZECHARIAH 6:9-15

9: The word of the Lord came to me:

10: “Take silver and gold from the exiles Heldai, Tobijah and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon. Go the same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah.

11: Take the silver and gold and make a crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jozadak.

12: Tell him this is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the Lord.

13: It is he who will build the temple of the Lord, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.’

14: The crown will be given to Heldai, Tobijah, Jedaiah and Hen son of Zephaniah as a memorial in the temple of the Lord.

15: Those who are far away will come and help to build the temple of the Lord, and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the Lord your God.”

TOPIC: LIVING IN TOTAL OBEDIENCE TO GOD

God, who has a perfect time for everything, drew the attention of the prophets to the fact that He needs a temple and revealed the person that will not only build it but lead the people in worship and bring the needed peace to the land.

God instructed Zechariah to make a crown which will be set on the head of the high priest.

Joshua professed prophetically that he would build the temple as well as sit and rule on the throne. The vision shows that Joshua will be a priest as well as a king.

The manifestations of this are closely connected to the obedience of the people (vs. 15) as God had planned to bring people from far away to assist in building the temple.

This should challenge us to know that when we live in obedience to the word of God, as revealed in the Scriptures, we shall enjoy the blessings of God as He will use people we never knew to be a blessing to us, our families and even the Church.

QUESTION: Are you living in total obedience to the word of God?

PRAYER: Help me, dear Lord, to understand that each time You give an instruction, I must obey, in Jesus' name. Amen.
