Everyday Mercy: Experiencing God’s Love Anew

WEDNESDAY, 17 SEPTEMBER 2025

TEXT: Zechariah 5:5-11

TOPIC: GOD PUNISHES SINS

The Lord revealed many things to the prophets so as to draw the people away from their evil ways back to Him.

After the vision of the flying scroll, God showed Zechariah another vision of the woman in the basket to illustrate that the wickedness of the people had reached a peak and attracted the punishment of the Lord.

We all know that the Babylonian captivity was as a result of the sin of the people and the prophets were told that the basket would be carried by the two women to Babylonia. God, who is merciful and loving, hates sin and He will surely punish every sin that is not forgiven.

He punished the people of Israel through different means in their days and He will also punish the church today, except we repent.

QUESTION: Do you make light of the sins you have committed or do you seek forgiveness from God?

PRAYER: Help me, dear Lord, to develop genuine hate for sin and make me seek Your face for forgiveness each time I sin, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Remain Blessed
