TEXT: John 8:21-30

 

TOPIC: WHERE IS YOUR PERMANENT ADDRESS?

 

If you are used to filling official documents you will be familiar with filling a blank space requiring you to give your permanent address, that is, where you reside. This is usually an apartment, house or any address that describe where you live.

 

The truth be told, there is no permanent address on this side of eternity. You are either from below or from above, you are of this world or a citizen of heaven (John 8:23).

 

The only permanent address that is everlasting is heaven above or hell fire. There is no permanent address on this terrestrial ball. The cliché we often hear about permanent employment, permanent secretary, permanent cure, permanent campus, etc are very misleading.

 

“For we are strangers… Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no abiding” (I Chronicles 29:15). Anyone who does not believe in Jesus will die in his or her sins and will be assigned a permanent address of perpetual existence without God.

 

QUESTION: If your heartbeat stops now, where will your permanent address be?

PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me the courage to choose heaven as my permanent address, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
