TEXT: John
6:16-24
TOPIC: DON’T
BE AFRAID
Fear is our survival
response; it is a natural and biological condition that we all experience.
The universal trigger of
fear is the treat of harm, real or imagined. The disciples of Jesus had covered
about five kilometers across the lake to Capernaum, battling a strong wind in
the night.
Suddenly, they saw an
eerie figure confidently approaching the boat; they had never seen anything
like it. As one might expect, they were terrified to their bones.
Jesus calmed them,
saying, “It is I; don’t be afraid.” With that consolation, they took Him into
the boat, and as they sailed to the shore, they kept smiling at the storms.
Like the disciples, we
can trust the consoling words of Jesus: “Do not be afraid; it is I.” Jesus
promised to be with us as we go through the storms of life, whether these
storms involve a lack of money, food, health, employment, the loss of a family
member, barrenness, or any other catastrophe.
Jesus is speaking to your
situation: “It is I; don’t be afraid.”
QUESTION: Are
you willing to take Jesus into your turbulent boat so you can smile at the
storms?
PRAYER: I am afraid of many threats. Please, Jesus, come
into my boat and calm the storms I am facing.

Remain
Blessed
