OF YOU IS A DEVIL (II)
Jesus has been the
subject of discussion everywhere. Nobody is neutral about Jesus, including His
brothers. Everyone formed an opinion about Him. His brothers ridiculed Him, the
crowd called Him demon-possessed, and the religious leaders planned to kill Him.
Sometimes your Christian
values can lead you to a lonely place. Your refusal to give or collect bribes,
your refusal to cut corners, your refusal to employ the unqualified son of your
boss, and your avoidance of anything that is wrong are likely to put you in
trouble, especially with ungodly leaders.
When you fight
corruption, corruption will surely fight you. The very people who should have
supported and sustained Jesus’ ministry posed an existential threat to Him. Yet
that did not deter Him from doing the right thing.
Jesus did not grow bitter
or angry, He did not plot revenge. Instead, He watched His back and stayed out
of confusion as He sought God’s face.
QUESTION: Are
you facing an existential threat from the people who ought to support you?
PRAYER: Help me, dear Lord, to handle my enemies the way
You did. Amen.
