TEXT: Psalm
25:12-22
TOPIC: TRUST
IS A TWO-WAY TRAFFIC
At the beginning of this
psalm, David tells us that “In you Lord my God, I put my trust. I trust in you…”
And now in verse 14, he tells us that “the Lord confides in those who fear him;
he makes his covenant known to them.”
The idea that God can
confide in those who fear Him and even make His covenant known to them sounds
unbelievably too good to be true. To confide in someone is to tell them a
secret or something personal. It is really comforting to know that God has
chosen to confide in mortal man who is very inconsequential compared to Him.
Before we prematurely
celebrate this fact, we need to understand that it’s not everyone that God
confides in. The bible tells us that “the Lord confides exclusively in those
who fear Him.” Meaning, if you don’t fear God or disregard His covenant, He
cannot confide in you.
Examples of people God
confided in include Abraham: “Then the Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham what
I am about to do?” (Genesis 18:17-19). Jesus also had an inner circle of three,
Peter, James and John, in whom He confided. He took them on special outings (Matthew
17:1). He allowed them to witness His greatest glory (Mark 9:2-3) and His deepest
temptations (Mark 14:33-34). He also prayed with His confidante (Luke 9:28ff).
QUESTION: Are
you part of God’s inner circle qualified to be trusted?
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to qualify as one of Your
confidantes. Amen.

Blessed
