TEXT: NEHEMIAH
13:1-13
TOPIC: SPIRITUAL REVIVAL
For
some years now, ECWA has been talking about revival. Unfortunately, we hear
some people calling for traditional and cultural revival at different levels.
Others
even call for revival of certain norms and languages. Spiritual revival deals
with the situation where someone who is spiritually low is brought to life.
Of
course, spiritual revival is only possible when people desire it.
The
Israelites in Nehemiah's time read God's word, listened to it carefully and
were ready for change (vs.1).
They
did not just read and listen but were willing to move away from those things
and persons that were evil (vs. 3, Prov.24:1).
For
us today, we might have to break some relationships that do not glorify God if
we are desirous of spiritual revival (vs. 3-8).
We
must also be able to boldly call a spade a spade without fear or favour.
Spiritual revival can only be possible if we put square pegs in square holes by
appointing people into offices based on competence and merit, especially in the
Church (vs. 13).
QUESTION:
Is your spiritual life in dire need of spiritual
revival?
PRAYER: O God, I am sorry that I have not pursued the issue
of spiritual revival the way I ought to have done. Search my life and remove
anything that is not in tandem with Your word, in Jesus' name. Amen.
