Boundless Love: Daily Reflections on God’s Compassion

MONDAY, 2 DECEMBER 2024

TEXT: Matthew 5:13-16

13. “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

14. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

15. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

(New King James Version Holy Bible)

TOPIC: DESCRIPTION OF THE CHRISTIAN

Jesus resolved the crisis of identity that Christians may be experiencing when he described them as the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

This comes with a lot of responsibilities for Christians who are representatives of Christ on earth. They are supposed to provide the flavor as well as the preservative needed to conserve the decaying world.

They should also serve as the light so that people will see the way to Christ and find the strength to continue living for Him.

As you live, consciously check your lifestyle in your family, neighbourhood, office, business place, etc, to make sure that you are what Christ called you to be – the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

QUESTION: Are you doing any good in your sphere of existence as its salt and light?

PRAYER: Help me, dear Father, to do what is right to influence people to follow the right path in order to make our community a better place, in Jesus name. Amen.

Remain Blessed
