JOB 33:1-22
TOPIC:
ELIHU CHALLENGES JOB'S DEFENCE
Elihu
acknowledged that, even though he was young he could still offer advice to an
elderly person and be an effective spokesperson for Job before God. He also
thought that Job's problem was that he was an unrepented sinner. He condemned
Job, a righteous man, but from the look of things he did not hear Job
carefully.
Job
certainly knew that he was a sinner in a general sense and could not be considered
righteous before God.
Elihu
told Job that God did not owe him or anyone else an explanation for what He
does and that Job was wrong to demand an explanation. He stated that God is
good and that God still speaks to people who are still suffering so as to save
their souls from death.
In
other words, while Elihu believed that suffering was a source of education,
Job's other friends viewed it as punishment for sinners alone. Elihu also saw
suffering as a way of correcting the lives of people He was already committed
to saving.
QUESTION: Like
Elihu, have we misinterpreted the words of a person going through suffering?
PRAYER: Help
me dear Lord not to wrongly accuse another person. Help me to give succor to
people who are going through suffering and pain, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
