TEXT:
Job 3:1-26
TOPIC:
JOB’S UTTERANCES IN THE FACE OF CALAMITIES
Because African culture
values human beings, when a person is going through suffering, other people
always lend a helping hand.
That is not different
from the culture of the people of ancient Biblical times.
Today’s text reveals
the following: Job’s children, servants, sheep and camels died and he was
afflicted with a terrible sickness. Job opened up and spoke about his condition
(vs. 1).
Sometimes, a person’s situation
in life may make him/her utter the kinds of words Job did here (vs. 3-11). He
wished he were not born or died at birth.
Although Job was a man
of God, he suffered from a lot of life’s catastrophes. All human beings may
have negative thoughts when faced with life’s challenges.
We need to be very
careful about our utterances because God always steps in at His own appointed
time.
QUESTION:
How do we respond to suffering, turmoil and the catastrophic situations if life
as believers?
PRAYER:
Lord, help me as a believer to watch what I say in my period of crisis. Let the
words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable unto You. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
