1 John 5:13-21
TOPIC:
JOHN ASSURES ALL BELIEVERS
John
assures us that whoever believes in Jesus Christ as the Son of God can be
certain of his or her salvation.
The
human mind finds it difficult to accept the truth that Jesus' death serves as
the atoning sacrifice for our sins and that by faith in Him, we are justified.
On
the strength of this truth, he encourages us to pray because God will always
hear His children who pray to Him according to His will.
When
you ask sometimes you do not receive because you ask with the wrong motives.
This call to ask for anything according to the will of God includes praying for
the salvation of unbelievers. John defines some of them as committing a sin
unto death!
This
is difficult to interpret but we know that there are people who deliberately
choose to reject the Gospel to the extent that their conscience becomes so dead
that they feel comfortable with evil and uncomfortable with godliness.
Nevertheless,
we have God's promise that we should pray according to His will and allow Him
to handle the rest.
QUESTION:
Are you confident that you are a child of God because you have accepted Jesus
Christ as your Lord and Saviour?
PRAYER:
Thank You, Jesus for the assurance of my position in You and for making me a
child of God, in Jesus name. Amen.
