TEXT:
Psalm 96:1-13
1.
Sing a new song to the LORD; sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2.
Sing to the LORD, praise His name; proclaim His salvation from day to day.
3.
Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful works among all peoples
4.
For the LORD is great and is highly praised; He is feared above all gods.
5.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
6.
Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
7.
Ascribe to the LORD, you families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and
strength.
8.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory of His name; bring an offering and enter His
courts.
9.
Worship the LORD in the splendor of [His] holiness; tremble before Him, all the
earth.
10.
Say among the nations: “The LORD reigns. The world is firmly established; it
cannot be shaken. He judges the peoples fairly.”
11.
Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice; let the sea and all that fills
it resound.
12.
Let the fields and everything in them exult. Then all the trees of the forest
will shout for joy
13.
before the LORD for He is coming – for He is coming to judge the earth. He will
judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with His faithfulness.

TOPIC:
A CALL TO SING A NEW SONG TO THE LORD
A new song comes our
way when the mind is at rest and not burdened with anxiety.
Today marks Nigeria’s
independence. Believers are admonished to sing a new song to the Lord.
The new song must tilt
towards proclaiming the salvation we have been enjoying in Christ.
As other African
countries look up to us, we should be able to declare His glorious and
marvelous deeds among all men.
This is necessary
because the Lord is great! He is worthy of our praise and above all human challenges.
Our new song should
lead to worshiping God in the splendor of His holiness. As the giant of Africa,
we have the duty of declaring to other countries and beyond that the Lord
reigns in all situations.
This sincere worship
will involve the heavens, earth, sea, fields and other creatures (vs. 11-13).
QUESTION:
What new song comes to your mind today as you mark Nigeria’s independence?
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Nigeria and for creating me as a Nigerian.
Create a new song in me today as I declare Your glory in the midst of this
life’s challenges, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
