TEXT:
Exodus 24:12-18
12.
Now the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and stay there, and
I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commandments which I
have written for their instructions.”
13.
So Moses arose with Joshua his attendant, and he went up to the mountain of
God.
14.
And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you.
Remember that Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever has a legal matter, let him
go to them.”
15.
Then Moses went up to the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.
16.
The glory and brilliance of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud
covered it for six days. On the seventh day God called to Moses from the midst
of the cloud.
17.
In the sight of the Israelites the appearance of the glory and brilliance of
the LORD was like consuming fire on the top of the mountain.
18.
Moses entered the midst of the cloud and went up the mountain; and he was on
the mountain forty days and forty nights.

TOPIC:
CALL FOR A SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT
As believers, God
relates with us differently when it comes to accomplishing a special task.
One outstanding lesson
we should learn about Moses is that he picked Joshua his associate to go with
him instead of going alone.
Also, he did not
arrogate the executive powers to himself alone but delegated Aaron and Hur to
hold brief while he was gone.
That was an indication
that he subscribed to the counsel of his father in-law.
God’s presence covered
the mountain in the form of a cloud for six days, meaning that Moses was with
God but there was no communication between them.
It was on the seventh
day that the actual communication with God began. God’s glory to Moses and
Joshua was in the form of a cloud but to the Israelites, it appeared like a
consuming fire on the top of the mountain.
Moses stayed with God
for forty days and forty nights and yet we are not told where and how he fed.
Being in God’s presence gives satisfaction and fulfilment.
QUESTION:
What stands out for you in today’s devotion?
PRAYER:
Dear Father, with all the lessons You have brought my way today, teach me about
the special assignment you want me to accomplish today, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
