TEXT:
Romans 6:1-4
1:
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?
2:
By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any
longer?
3:
Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were
baptized into his death?
4:
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that,
just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too
may live a new life.

International Version Holy Bible)
TOPIC:
BE HOLY
Paul
opens the discussion with questions about whether believers should continue
living in sin because of the grace of God. Romans 5 closes with an assertion
that God's grace is able to counter the effect of sin, which is death. He
affirms, "just as sin reign in death, so also grace might reign through
righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (5:21).
The
issue now is that since our salvation does not depend on doing any meritorious
work, does it therefore mean that a saved person can continue to live his
normal and former life? Our salvation means that we have died to our former way
of life and resurrected with Him into a new way of living.
A
proper understanding of what the grace of God constitutes is enough to motivate
righteous living in every believer. Jesus' parable of the soils clearly shows
that the redeemed heart is like the good soil which receives the Word [seed] of
God and is fruitful (Luke 8). Holiness is connected to the study and
application of the Word of God.
QUESTION:
If you assess your life, would you say that you are truly holy in the way God
has called us to be holy?
PRAYER:
Your answer to the above question should guide your prayer.
Remain
Blessed
