TEXT:
Romans 1:13-17
13:
I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I planned many
times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order
that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.
14:
I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.
15:
That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.
16:
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings
salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
17:
For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is
by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by
faith.”
TOPIC:
THE POWER OF GOD FOR SALVATION
Paul
had tested the Gospel and knew from experience that it has the power to save
and transform any life, irrespective of the person. This explains why he was
committed to preaching it in season and out season, in com fort and discomfort,
in peace and when he faced opposition of different kinds (2 Timothy 2:2-4).
He
understood that preaching the Gospel encompassed reaching out to the Gentiles
and non - Gentiles alike, the wise and the foolish. But his primary assignment
was to present the Gospel to his Gentile people. So he prayed and looked
forward to visiting Rome.
The
Gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. He had
earlier explained the Gospel in verses 2-4 which is Jesus Christ: His death and
resurrection for the salvation of those who believe (verse 16).
Believers
are called and set apart to righteous living which is by faith. In other words,
this faith should be demonstrated in their everyday living. Everyone who truly
accepts this Gospel will experience transformation that should be evident in
their daily lives, visible to all.
QUESTION:
Does your life demonstrate that you believe the message of the Gospel? If not,
why not? If yes, then praise God.
PRAYER:
Pray according to your response to the question above.
Remain
Blessed
