Devotional For Daily Living With God

WEDNESDAY, 22 MARCH 2023

TEXT: Romans 1:18-23

18. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

19. because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.

20. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

21. because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

22. Professing to be wise, they became fools,

23. and changed the glory of the incorruptible man-and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

(New King James Version Holy Bible)

TOPIC: HUMANITY IS WITHOUT EXCUSE

It is said that “ignorance of the law excuses no one.” This legal principle holds that a person who is unaware of the existence of a law may not escape responsibility for violating it.

However, in the case of today’s text, Paul insists that God’s judgement is released against all who “suppress the truth by their wickedness” (verse 18). These rebellious people are not ignorant because “what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them” (verse 19).

The instrument of this revelation is the display of the power of God through His creations made visible all over the universe. Everything in the universe depicts the existence of a designer and creator Who is mightier than anything the human kind can imagine.

Unfortunately, humanity has opted to worship the creatures, including man himself, rather than the Creator Himself.

Today, many church members have replaced God with bigger toys, money, themselves, etc, in their lives. Repent and return to God before His judgement descends upon you.

QUESTION: What excuses do you have for replacing God with other things in your life?

PRAYER: Search your heart for those things that have subtly taken the place of God in your life and ask Him to forgive you and help you remain in Him.
