TEXT:
Philippians 2:12-18
12.
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only,
but now much more in my presence, work out your own salvation with fear and
trembling.
13.
for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do his good pleasure.
14.
Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15.
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the
midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the
world;
16.
Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I
have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.
17.
Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy,
and rejoice with you all.
18.
For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
(King
James Version Holy Bible)
TOPIC:
SHOW RESULTS BY THE WAY YOU LIVE
The Philippian
believers were encouraged to demonstrate their faith and faithfulness by the
way they lived, even in Paul’s absence. It is one thing for disciples to show
their allegiance to their teacher and leader while he is with them and another
thing when he is away from them.
This was most especially
so in the case of Paul who was then in prison. He charged them to “work hard
and show the results” of their salvation through obedience and deep reverence
for God (v. 12). It is interesting to note that God “is working in” the
believer, giving him “the desire and the power to do what pleases him [God]”
(v. 13).
It is this presence of
God in the believer’s life that enables us shine as light. When the light of
the presence of God is allowed to shine, we cease complaining and grumbling.
Instead, we exhibit purity and obedience and are able to present Christ to the
world and draw men toward Him.
Like Paul, we must
shine like bright lights in order to help others find the Lord Jesus Christ –
the source of the true light of life.
QUESTION:
Does your life demonstrate what you confess as a Christian?
PRAYER:
Father in heaven, I choose to live the life that will glorify You, so help me,
in Jesus name, Amen.
Remain
Blessed
