TEXT: MATTHEW
23:25–26
25. How terrible for you, teachers of the Law and
Pharisees! You hypocrites! You clean the outside of your cup and plate, while
the inside is full of what you have gotten by violence and selfishness.
26. Blind Pharisee! Clean what is inside the cup
first, and then the outside will be clean too!
TOPIC:
ADDRESSING SELFISHNESS IN YOUR LIFE
Jesus delivers a powerful message in these verses,
confronting the danger of external religion that masks internal corruption.
The religious leaders maintained careful
appearances, yet their hearts were filled with selfishness and sin.
Like polished cups that are filthy inside, their
outward piety was a facade. Christ calls us to something deeper—authentic
transformation that begins within.
God is not impressed by how we appear, but by the
purity of our motives and the sincerity of our devotion.
True righteousness does not merely scratch the
surface; it flows from a heart surrendered to Him.
This passage challenges us to prioritize spiritual
integrity over image.
Are we seeking God’s cleansing from the inside out?
Let our prayer be for renewed hearts, not just respectable reputations.
QUESTION: Are you seeking God’s cleansing in every
area of your life?
PRAYER: Father, cleanse my heart and mind. Teach me
to pursue holiness not for show, but to honour You in truth and love Amen.
