TEXT: JOHN
1:35-42
35: The next day John was
there again with two of his disciples.
36: When he saw Jesus
passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
37: When the two
disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.
38: Turning around, Jesus
saw them following and asked, “What do you want?” They said, “Rabbi” (which
means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
39: “Come,” he replied,
“and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent
that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.
40: Andrew, Simon Peter’s
brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed
Jesus.
41: The first thing
Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the
Messiah” (that is, the Christ).
42: And he brought him to
Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be
called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter).

TOPIC: JESUS IS THE LAMB OF GOD (II)
Man
is known to be consistently inconsistent. In other words, man's consistent
nature is inconsistencies, but that's not true of John the Baptist. He remained
very consistent in terms of the focus of his ministry.
Like
Paul, who said, "I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except
Jesus Christ and Him crucified... My message and preaching were not with wise
and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power so that
your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power" (1
Corinthians 2:2-5).
Today,
especially in Nigeria, most of the messages we hear lack the demonstration of
the Holy Spirit's power. Instead, we rely on gimmicks, rhetoric, and deception.
John
the Baptist is an excellent model for the African church. He is contented with
himself, humble, focused, and is not afraid of losing disciples.
John
did not see the ministry as an arena for competition but a platform for
complementing one another.
QUESTION: What is your focus in life?
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to be focused and consistent in
doing your will, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Remain
Blessed
