TEXT: Psalm
11:1-7
TOPIC: WHEN
THE FOUNDATIONS ARE BEING DESTROYED< WHAT CAN THE RIGHTEOUS DO?
Psalm 11 was written at a
time when the Psalmist was being advised to abandon his struggles for what was
right because righteousness was no longer poplar.
He was tempted by others
into believing that things were so bad that there was no point in fighting for
righteousness. Detractor argued that, because, righteous could not reverse the
situation, the best thing to do is to avoid confrontation by retreating to a
safe place.
Psalm 11:3 is the fulcrum
of the entire chapter as it warns of catastrophic results when the fundamental
principles of righteousness are destroyed with impunity, especially by the
revered custodians of societal values as pointed out in Jeremiah 8:10: “… from
the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain, prophets and priests alike
all practice deceit… the prophets follow an evil course and use their power
unjustly.”
The Psalmist ends with an
ultimate expression of confidence that in God’s economy, righteousness is not
determined by the majority vote but by His standards.
QUESTION: Have
you ever been discouraged by the attitudes of African Christians, especially
our spiritual leaders?
PRAYER: Dear Father, do not allow our foundation to be destroyed,
in Jesus’s name. Amen.

Blessed
