TEXT:
Genesis 19:30-38
TOPIC:
THE MENACE OF ALCOHOL
The story is told of a
man who was given options of sins to choose from to commit, and the three sins
were murder, rape and drinking alcohol.
After a very quick
consideration, he decided to go for what he considered the ‘least evil’ among
them all, and that was drinking alcohol.
After drinking alcohol
and getting drunk, however, he ended up raping a lady and even killing her!
Lot’s daughters used
alcohol to get their father drunk and then commit incest. The consequences of
their sinful action resulted in the perpetuation of sin and wickedness through
generations of Moabites and Ammonites that were descendants of their incest.
The Moabites and
Ammonites became some of the fiercest enemies of Israel (2 Chronicles 20:1).
Alcohol is an inducer
and catalyst for many other sins. It is therefore never worth taking the risk
of drinking alcohol, it is much better to completely avoid it.
QUESTION:
Do you take alcohol?
PRAYER:
Oh God, help me to avoid taking alcohol completely to that I would never risk
getting drunk, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
