TEXT:
2 CORINTHIANS 2:5-17
TOPIC:
FORGIVING A SINNER
Many
times, churches over-react to sinners to the extent of even ex-communicating
them.
Paul
calls on church members to forgive and comfort the offender considering that
many end up regretting their actions and go into excessive sorrow.
Paul
admonishes the Church to love such people, bearing in mind that once there is
forgiveness in the larger body, God agrees with the Church.
Paul
noted the enemy's schemes against the church. Therefore, he cautioned the
church not to give in to such.
Believers
are the aroma of Christ among church members and unbelievers. We smell death on
unbelievers while among the brethren is the fragrance of life. What gives us
this quality is God.
Our
position in Christ should motivate us to speak what is godly with sincerity and
not peddle God's word for profit through taking advantage of weak members.
QUESTION: What
role are you playing in restoring erring members back to God?
PRAYER: Father,
forgive me for taking advantage of my position to inflict pain on erring
members and rebuke me any moment l am tempted to peddle Your word for my
selfish gain, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
