TEXT:
John 13:34-35
34:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must
love one another.
35:
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
(New International Version Holy
Bible)
TOPIC:
LOVE BEYOND ROMANCE
Many
define love in the context of mere romance on Valentine's Day. While romance is
not necessarily bad, sometimes what constitutes it is worrying.
The
dictionary defines romance as an exciting enjoyable love affair, especially one
that is not serious or long lasting. Many who will be going out today in the
name of celebrating love may not attach God, commitment, responsibility and
steadfastness to the affair.
But
going by today's text, we realize that there is a new command given to
believers to love one another not as they see fit but as Jesus has loved them.
Jesus clearly states that believers' love for one another will make all men
know that they are His disciples!
The
implication of today's message is that love is to be celebrated from the model
that Jesus has left for us in the Bible. Don't allow mere emotions and romance
to rule your heart and decide your agenda for this day. Happy Valentine!
QUESTION:
Where is Jesus in your Valentine's Day agenda?
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, please help my expression of love today reflect Your abiding love
for me in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
