Morning Hour With God Daily Devotions

TUESDAY, 6 JUNE 2023

TEXT: Acts 12:1-5

1. During this same time, King Herod began to do harm to some of those who were part of the church.

2. He ordered James, the brother of John, to be killed with a sword.

3. Herod saw that many of the Jews liked this, so he decided to arrest Peter too. This happened during the festival of unleavened bread.

4. He arrested Peter and put him in jail, where he was guarded by a group of 16 soldiers. Herod planned to bring Peter before the people, but he wanted to wait until after the Passover festival.

5. So Peter was kept in jail, but the church was constantly praying to God for him.

TOPIC: LET THE CHURCH PRAY

King Herod was privileged to be made a king. He was, however, full of pride and wanted to make a name for himself. He would not look for criminals to execute but was happy to kill harmless people who preached the Gospel of Christ.

He arrested and killed James and when he discovered that people were hailing him for doing that, he decided to also arrest Peter, intent on killing him the following day.

Wicked rulers do not respect the blood of innocent people. The church decided to fight his injustice and wickedness by spending the night praying for divine intervention. The Church must rise up and pray against all manner of injustice, oppression and wickedness pervading the land today.

QUESTION: Do you know that God is just waiting for you to pray before He sends His angel to rescue you?

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, please help the Church to rise up and pray, in Jesus name. Amen.
