SATURDAY, MARCH 26, 2022

TEXT: John 20:1-10

1. The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God,

2. in readiness for God from day one.

3. Everything was created through him; nothing – not one thing! – came into being without him.

4. What came into existence was life, and the life was Light to live by.

5. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out.

6. There once was a man, his name John, sent by God

7. to point out of the way to the Life-Light. He came to show everyone where to look, who to believe in.

8. John was not himself the light; he was there to show the way to the light.

9. The Life-Light was the real thing: Everything person entering Life he brings into Light.

10. He was in the world, the world was there through him, and yet the world didn’t even notice.

TOPIC: THE TOMB IS EMPTY

On the first day of the week, Matthew mentioned Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome taking spices to anoint the body of Jesus where He was buried.

John only mentioned Mary Magdalene in verse 1. Verse 2, the use of the statement: “…and we don’t know where they have put him,” indicates that Magdalene was not alone to witness the empty tomb.

Magdalene knew where to locate the disciples in this atmosphere of confusion. It is clear that neither the women nor the disciples thought of the resurrection. The folding of the burial cloth orderly in vs. 7 dismissed the idea of a grave robbery. The concept of the resurrection came as a result of what they saw in the tomb in line with the scripture and not a made up story.

QUESTION: What does the idea of the empty tomb bring to your mind?

PRAYER: Father, thank you for breaking the power of this monster that is called “death”. Your resurrection is an assurance that in you I shall one day live in eternity, Amen.
