TEXT: Psalm
9:1-10
TOPIC: A
RIGHTEOUS RULER AND A JUST GOD
Psalm 9 is both a song of
thanksgiving and a prayer for help in the face of danger, injustice and victimization
by the powerful. The psalmist spells judgement on those who terrorise and grace
onto the terrorized.
Psalm 9 is therefore bad
news to the powerful who use their positions to the detriment of the poor and
good news to victims of injustice.
Praise and prayers
alternate throughout as the psalmist appeals to the righteous and just God to
intervene on behalf of the powerless and helpless.
The psalmist remembered
how God miraculously delivered him from the powerful King Saul and expresses
his strong conviction that the righteous God will not allow the powerful to
continually take advantage of the powerless.
It is even more worrisome
that in the Church, some powerful leaders are taking advantage of the
powerless. Such unjust people are cautioned in James 5:4-6.
QUESTION: How
do you feel when you receive your fat salaries and allowances but refuse to pay
those who work under you?
PRAYER: Thank
You Lord that the cries of the powerless have reached Your ears. Amen.

Remain
Blessed
