TEXT: Psalm
6:1-10
TOPIC: BEGIN
THE DAY WITH PRAYER
King David was a very
busy man but he did not allow his leadership responsibilities to suffocate his
regular appointment with God.
Sometimes Christians and,
more especially leaders, rationalize that they are too busy doing God’s work
that they don’t have time for God.
The irony of this
situation is that Christian leaders have time for meetings, appointments and
conferences but no time for regular prayers, like Jesus (Mark 1:25).
We need to understand
that prayer is not something you do; it is something you make time to do.
Psalm 5:3 infers that
although we can pray anytime throughout the day, it is always good to begin the
day with prayer. The psalmist repeats his conviction to begin the day with
prayer thus: “… in the morning my prayer comes before you” (Psalm 88:13).
QUESTION: Do
you and your family alter, especially in the morning?
PRAYER: Help me, dear Lord, to develop the habit of prayer alone or with family members, especially at the beginning of the day, in Jesus' name. Amen.
