TEXT:
MATTHEW 5:33-37
33: “Again, you have
heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but
fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’
34: But I tell you, do
not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne;
35: or by the earth,
for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.
36: And do not swear by
your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black.
37: All you need to say
is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

TOPIC:
LIVING AN HONEST LIFE
Honesty has become very
scarce in the Church today as many Christians have dragged their integrity
through the mud by engaging in dealings that do not portray the light of
Christ. They lie, cheat and fail to keep the promises they make to people.
Jesus revealed that the
people of old took oaths to show that they would fulfil their promises or keep
their side of the bargain. But Christians should make a difference by doing
exactly what is expected of them in every situation.
There is no need for
them to swear or take an oath but do what needs to be done because they are
expected to be symbols of honesty.
We must understand that
honesty is a virtue that speaks in every situation.
QUESTION:
Are you honest in your dealings with people?
PRAYER:
Father, please forgive me for my dishonesty and grant me the enablement to live
my life for Your glory by speaking and living the truth, no matter the
consequences, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
