TEXT:
1 Corinthians 6:12-20
12.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are
lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
13.
Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it
and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the
Lord for the body.
14.
And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.
15.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the
members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!
16.
Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For
“the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.”
17.
But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
18.
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he
who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
19.
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in
you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
20.
For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your
spirit, which are God’s.

TOPIC:
FREE FROM SEXUAL IMMORALITY
In
a spiritual sense, sexual immorality is not worse than other sins. But it does
introduce a new set of complex issues and problems.
In
today’s text, Paul suggests that “Other sins, outside a person’s body, do not
impact a person’s own body as do sexual sins, though other practices also can
damage one’s body” (vs. 18).
The
body is not meant for sexual immorality, though it is one of the sins that the
devil uses to tempt human beings. Yet, its proper use was ordained by God at
creation (Genesis 1:27, 28).
Legitimate
sex is limited to the marriage union. Not everything one loves is beneficial to
them. It is very easy for the devil to destroy Christ’s body, which we carry
and where the Holy Spirit resides, to control our lives.
The
moment we give in to sexual immorality, our body, which belongs to God, is
destroyed (vs. 19-20).
Thus,
believers are challenged to honour God with their bodies which was purchased by
the blood of Jesus at Calvary. Run to Him for the cleansing power in the blood
so that you can flee from sexual immorality!
QUESTION:
Are you struggling under the yoke of sexual immorality and want to be free from
it?
PRAYER:
Deliver me, dear Lord, from the power of sexual immorality and give me victory
over every temptation to sin against You, in Jesus name. Amen.
Remain
Blessed
